Rosa Diendomi



Rosa Iris Diendomi Álvarez, born in Moca, Dominican Republic, is a Dominican of Haitian descent and a dedicated human rights advocate. She began her work in 2001 in San Pedro de Macorís, creating a human rights network across 26 communities to address the extreme vulnerability of Haitian migrants and their descendants. A lawyer with a master’s in human rights and International Humanitarian Law, Ms. Diendomi Álvarez has specialized in statelessness and immigration law, including research and practice in the U.S. She is also an essayist and poet.


From 2007 to 2009, Ms. Diendomi Álvarez coordinated the Social Policies Roundtable of the Higuamo Region and later co-founded Movimiento Reconocí.do, serving in leadership roles. She ran for Congress in 2016 and featured in documentaries such as STATELESS and OUR

LIVES IN TRANSIT. Due to her activism and denunciation of state corruption, Rosa has lived in exile since 2018.


In 2019, Ms. Diendomi Álvarez moved to Pittsburgh, where she worked with Urban Impact and the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Migrant Program. In July 2022, she joined the Christian Immigration Advocacy Center (CIAC) as an Accredited Representative, viewing it as a blessing to continue serving immigrants with love and faith. Rosa hopes to strengthen CIAC’s mission and bring hope to those forced to leave their homeland.
